i think there is no point because if you give your opponent a free turn he just check you , extra turn , capture your king
i think there is no point because if you give your opponent a free turn he just check you , extra turn , capture your king
Then try not to be checked
I think you should start with 50$ at the start of the game
Ok π
Ima reduce it to 30
Just a question, for the all in option, where do the piece spawn? Do you choose or it just spawned randomly? This is quite important to balance.
Having 30 coins at the start and having tactical nuke priced at 30 coins also seems problematic. Everyone would spam tactical nuke at the beginning of the game. Either increase the price of tactical nuke or reduce the starting coins.
Also suggestion to get coins by capturing units. Maybe price a pawn at 1, Bishop/Knight at 3, or increase the amount if you want more fast paced game.

do you realise how hard that is? the queen or any other pieces almost always can sac themselves to check the king. that by itself makes this mode much harder and almost impossible to play...

this i agree.
Normal chess but you can choose to skip your turn and give your opponent an extra turn that they can use anytime they want... in exchange for 10 coins. You start with 30 coins.
You can use coins to buy stuff (buying stuff uses up turn)
10 coins - Neonberry - Make one of your pieces atomic (like in atomic chess).
20 coins - Trap - Secretly pick an unoccupied square, if any of your opponent's pieces land on it or move past it (besides the king), they DIE.
20 coins - Reverse card - Secretly pick one of your pieces (besides the king). If a piece captures it, (besides the king), they DIE instead.
30 coins - Tactical nuke - Blow up a 3x3 square anywhere on the board, as long as it doesn't contain a king. Blows up your own pieces as well.
10+ coins - All in - Spend all of your coins to roll a die. The die has 4 options, you get a knight, a bishop, a rook, or a queen. For every 10 coins you spent (excluding your first 10 coins), get a chance to reroll the die.
Suggested:
100 coins - Razor - Destroys half of the chess board and the pieces on that side blow up.
Updates:
Buying uses turn
30 coins at start of game
Can only have up to 3 extra turns
Tactical nuke added
the "can only have up to 3 extra turns" helps in NO WAY as most minor or major piece can always check the king in 3 moves or less.

also wont the trap card have issues like you just lying about where you placed it? or is this like online where you cant cheat? and anyway is this even a playable mode?
alright
It's an online variant
You can write the place where you put the trap on a piece of paper
Ima do some stuff to balance it more
Now you simply cannot capture the opponent's king with an extra turn

Oh I forgor about that
I guess place the piece anywhere on your first 3 ranks
I'll reduce the starting coins to 20 maybe

Extra turns cannot be used to check and capture the king.

20 coins - Whirlpool - Pick a square. A whirlpool will appear there and pull all pieces 1 square toward it. Pieces inside the Whirlpool don't move. If any pieces end up on the same square, they remain there without anything happening.
30 coins - Tactical nuke - Blow up a 3x3 square anywhere on the board, as long as it doesn't contain a king. Blows up your own pieces as well.

For every 10 coins you spent (excluding your first 10 coins), the chances of getting a more valuable piece increases. Your piece can be placed anywhere on your first 3 ranks.
