My Final Chess Variant

Sort:
alexandermatos

Rules: Black has a full, standard chess army, in the usual position. White is limited to a single piece, which can move like a queen or knight. Black's goal is to checkmate white's amazon, and white has to checkmate black's king to win the game. There is no pawn promotion in this game

Participation: Both players have to "sign-up" in order to play. The first two players to join are lucky enough to play this variant first.

Time Control: 3 days with no vacation. After 3 days, a timeout warning may be called. After a timeout warning, a player has only 24 hours to respond

IMPORTANT: Unfortunately, this is the final game that I will be able to mod until school ends. I am having some difficulty keeping track of my game, and I want to focus on school as well. If you want to play a variant chess game, either you or your opponent will have to mod. Here are the websites I use to update my games:

https://musketeerchess.net/tools/boardpainter/index.php?bs=chess

https://www.chessvideos.tv/genboard.php

https://www.random.org/dice/?num=2

For Dice Chess, I would recommend using the dice roller and the diagram generator. For other interesting variants, the Musketeer Chess Boardpainter has got you covered. On the bright side, I will be available at the start of June 2020, when this school year ends.

If Black simply plays Nb8-c6 and Nc6-n8 on every move how do I have a chance to win?

Chushoudelu

alexander matos this isnt the variant, it is supposed to be amazon that has powers of hawk and unicorn

RioM2

I played this variant with Dad as child before 40 years. It has own wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maharajah_and_the_Sepoys

White's strategy is to clean as many black pieces on the board using forks and to chase the black king into the corner of the board after successfully cleaning the board. With best play, black should always win, however, an inexperienced black opponent can often fall victim to white's amazon.

But my argument is that if the black player has no ambitions of playing for a win, the white player has no possibility of winning.

The game would end in a draw. I get that. However, both sides are trying to play for a win here. A draw wouldn't be very exciting.

This is just a variant that be like:

promote you a pawn

promote your h pawn

switch the position of rooks

promote you b and g pawn

Repeat until all pawns are promoted(watch out for stalemate)

black can definitely win(an amazon is only 12 points and a whole army is 39 so...)

tacticspotter

Just leave the queen bishop and def pawn in place and he cannot checkmate you

Change of plans, hide king on a1,knight stay on b1 and a3,don’t move a and b pawn

this will atleast ensure a draw,now use 6 pawns,2 bishops,2 rooks and a queen vs a amazon
If the amazons play all second best moves, its a draw,1 blunder by white and white loses

no way white can win...

most likely a draw as even with 5 rooks it still can’t trap an amazon...

tacticspotter

Anyone smart will pick black lol

tehanu

nah

if you slowly push pawns safely it should be winnable

tehanu

you have to cramp the amazon

Amazon can dodge behind the pawns, anyways this would be a hard win for black and if black messed up..

tacticspotter

Lol ok I got way of winning now, tuck rook behind a pawn, ise knight and bishop to cover up all the other pawns

then repeat

maybe try one game and see if it works
