It's all good. Now you have 2 MODs for infinite. Wait, let me try posting a position.

...Paints on desktop works, right?

I use MS Paint. I believe it is included with Windows (Accessories folder). My favorite tools:

cut and paste (works even when 2 files open at same time)
fill (looks like bucket pouring paint) - good to fill holes when you cut a hole.
zoom in/zoom out
eyedropper (to copy a color already on the diagram somewhere)

Sadly, I've found that creating graphics doesn't make you better at chess. It's a different discipline.sad.png

Lol but I have no clue which is the right gray... happy.png and Paint on desktop and MS paint are the same thing.

Good work! The easiest (most common) mistake is forgetting to remove a piece from its original square. It would give someone a "free" piece.shock.png

I'm already doing bulldog, so I know.

New theory: the guard is the perfect counter to the hawk.

The guard is almost like the opposite of a hawk because the guard can move one space but the hawk jumps two or three. Despite its short range it can always move to a safe square when attacked by a hawk. In tandem with pawns (like in my game FromAlphaToOmega - HitThePin) it can take away many of the hawks squares and thus limit it.

Thoughts?

I think two guards are a perfect counter to a hawk. You are right that they have a special relationship: they both attack radially outward in all directions. But the guard jumps one square only. But since the hawk jumps 2 or 3, it probably has twice the value.

The knight is the other famous jumping chess piece. It has the famous "L"-shaped jump.

It's really interesting that all three of these pieces jump, but they all jump to unique squares. In a single jump, none can jump to any square where the others can:

As for notation I would suggest that the white rooks are on (1,1) and (8,1) and the black rooks are on (8,1) and (8,8).

Perhaps it is fun to have some armies of short-ranged pieces far away from the king in the starting position.

This post is practically sacred to me and possibly shaped chess on an Infinite Plane while it was in its infancy. 👍

Naviary made this really cool image of this game's setup. It was posted in some game, but I'm showing here too:

Thanks Nav. I plan to post it on Facebook, and maybe one other site where I collect random stuff related to art and games. I'll let you know once I post it.happy.png
