Does anyone want to play against Adorn?
Chess on an Infinite Plane
Yes
Or else the game will be too long.
Can you moderate?
Sure, I shall create the thread later tonight. But who are you playing against?
Ok here is game: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess960-chess-variants/20x24-chess-game-using-infinite-setup-adorn-aliment-vs-rychessmaster
... you could also find it here.
Normally we play with pawns promoting on the 8th rank for white and the 1st rank for black. (Blue lines help identify the promotion rank). Is that what you're asking, or would you play differently?
Unfortunately I'm a little too busy to play a game right now. Maybe after a week or two I'll be able to play if you'd still like to.
Where are the two games to decide who gets to play me? Have they started yet?
They haven't started yet. You deserve to know who you play next, so I think those games should start. Plus I want to defeat Ry again. I'll go to the other thread to make sure all four players can begin.
...and I'll play
Does anyone want to play against woofydog? I'm too busy to play another game, but I might be able to mod a game (starting in about 2 weeks).
There's no hurry, I just want to follow the games so I can study my potential opponents!
Please post links to the games in this thread so I get notified, thanks.
Well, we've been acquainted as chess.com buds for more than a couole of years, yet, this is my first question about this variant. Haha
I just want to be sure I understood correctly. With a board that has no boarder, do pieces move on and on without end? Or, do they reappear on the opposite side once they reached a certain rank/file?
do pieces move on and on without end?
This. The board is essentially extended to accommodate the piece's move.
I'm guessing players realize that, in order to deliver checkmate, it wouldn't be a good idea for any one piece to wonder off too far, even if such a feature is available to them; perhaps that's the limit players silently set for themselves and their opponents when playing this game.
Again, intriguing.
The big pieces still have influence over long distance, it's theoretically possible for the queen to deliver checkmate from a million squares away. I don't tend to make unnecessarily long moves, but I've seen it happen. Regardless, play nearly always revolves around the centre, even if there are distant pieces.
So we can move a rook to -999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999993242347304703874038740836401246036408260832640836493463843073403743,34174304327403636583056305460286420564054685024?
Yes, just look at this game. Holo makes some pretty massive moves.
