They are all livestreamers, they are all famous within different online subcultures and gaming communities. Some are have a more entertainment focus and others focus more on high-level gaming but they all do it live infront of an online audience. The most famous of them all is XQC, who is one of the biggest streamers in the world and recently signed a $100m deal to stream on kick.com for some of his broadcasts. Squeex for example is a Mario 64 speedrunner who livestreams, and so on.
The idea is to bring Pogchamps to a new generation of online gamerss, the audience learn chess vicariously through their favourite streamers, and chess.com hopes to bring new players to the game and to their site.
I've been watching a bit of the "PogChamps 5" broadcast, but I don't really understand who these amateur players are exactly.
How were they chosen? I've never really heard of any of them before, are they famous people?
Thanks for the help.
