I would recommend two clubs. I cannot invite you, as I am only a member; however, if you search clubs you can send a request to join. I am confident both would accept you.
Bear Cubs. Very sociable and for low to intermediate players.
Geezers. Again, very sociable for older players 50+ years old.
I've decided to join Bishop Pair chess club, thanks for the suggestions.

Not so - Geezers is now an equal opportunities Club for men and women over 50, and that means from the day of your 50th birthday.
Hello club administrators, I've dabbled with this site for the past 4yrs. I'm at a point in life where I'd like to learn and play more, especially now that my young grandchildren have joined chess club at there schools. I'm looking for a group that have beginners and higher level players that don't mind playing a true beginner. A place to ask questions and get some guidance on how to study,practice and navigate my path through the over whelming world of chess. My goal is to become proficient for casual play and to meet new friends. I live in northern California and usually available for online play after 5 pm .
