The one not supported way is by using the club invite system. Sending notes, leaving comments in the forums, chat and private messaging isn't allowed and can get an account closed for spamming.

Invite friends in the begging and let people discover the club, once your club has like 40 or 30 members start inviting others and promote a person when you at least have 10 members(the most active person). 

When your community gets bigger your club grows bigger.
