JUST...

SKINS

WHATEVER YOU WANT

The theme of the pieces and background needs to be "newspaper" to work. The theme of the board can be anything, but I preferred to put "wood with knots"

Step by step:
1-when the site opens, right-click and "inspect" in an empty space.
2-go to the "sources" tab.
3-search for the online source "images.chesscomfiles.com".
4-open the "chess-themes" folder.
5-open the "backgrounds", "boards" or "pieces" folder according to what you want to change.
6-select the sprite that will be changed.
7-right click and "override content".
8-download another image file that you want to use in place of the original sprite, using the same name.
9- drag the new image to the sprite that will be overwritten.
10-reload the page. the skin remains even after closing the browser.

To load the entire skin, when overwriting a sprite, select the general "kimetsu" directory. All parts will be configured at once.

cons:

-This only works on the website, not the apps.
-the image must have the same width as its height, being a square format (otherwise, the image starts to repeat itself on the sides, which happened with some of the images used)
-if the texture does not load the next time the site is opened, just open "inspect", "sources", ">>" at the top left, "overrides" and the folder used.
if the texture doesn-t load: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/b3lxntzqa5ptmteeqrujr/2024-10-08-16-21-39.mp4?rlkey=v6bpkwehees6mobm4854d0lux&st=ro5tivyu&dl=0

I promise there's no virus lmao.

Idk if the anti-cheat system will trigger for that so... Caution pls (my skin is active and nothing has gone wrong yet)

It is client-sided, other players cannot see your skin, only the “newspaper” theme

Hello,
It sounds like you've put together a detailed guide for customizing chess.com themes!

To summarize:

Use the Inspect tool to find and override the image files you want to change.
Replace these files with your new images while keeping the same names.
Reload the page to see your changes.
This method works only on the website and not on the apps. Make sure your images are square to avoid repetition issues. Your customizations are client-sided, so other players won't see your changes.
Best Regards,
Michael Gardner

how are you going to remember all of the pieces and what they look like

I just remember because I made the skin

You can do whatever you want, so you'll eventually get used to it
