Abandonment timeout now ludicrously fast

Have they changed the time you can leave a game before you lose the game by abandonment?
If I flick to my messages app to read a text from my wife, then come back - I’ve lost the game. It seems that if you leave the app for mere seconds now, you are guaranteed a lose.

It’s really massively annoying - particularly if your opponent takes a long time to think before making their move.

This is making the app almost unusable for me now.

On the apps, I think if you leave the game screen, it automatically gets abandoned.

That’s definitely how it seems to work right now, but definitely isn’t how it’s been for the last two or three years that I’ve been playing on my phone.
It’s changed in the last month or so and has genuinely made it unplayable for me.

And I was wondering why people would abandon games they were winning... ^^

It’s an *incredibly* annoying way to lose a game that seems to be going well!

It’s different if you close the app rather than leaving it

Yes, I’m leaving the app open.
If I switch to another app and come back quickly (almost instantly) it is fine. Feels like 30 or even 20 seconds now means the game is lost by abandonment. It has not been like this until recently.
Something has changed and it has ruined it for me.
