Fake Accounts/Bots

Yes without a doubt because there is almost no diversity in the openings.

Explain.

I only play rapid does that make me a bot? because I play e4 all time does that qualify me as a bot ? I think theres a thought that crosses my mind that I often see d4 frequently im playing a bot. I refuse to chat because its a tactic to waste time or its to unbalance opponent I think theres variance in the ratings for blunders. So do i think im playing a bot no I think ppl are like me that want to play chesx and improve and stick to openings they know

Jep indeed

I agree with you Martin. When I'm playing there's very little variation in openings. I'm pretty sure we're being played by bots instead of real people.

Because those openings work. It's kind of annoying, but what ever.

Yes there are bot account. Whether they are run by chess com?! I have no idea. Report anyone suspicious. I know for a fact there are bots though because my ratings go up and down in a pattern. If i lose a certain amount of games, ill get someone that is clearly throwing the game. Or there are games i suspect a bot and make a silly blunder that no one would do but they clearly premoved the blunder. Im a 500-800 rating. I sandbagged my account to see how long itd take to get back up to 500. I cant. I got there for a week n then for the last 3 months. Ive lost countless games and rarely checkmate anymore. You will get a series of real games. Then someone quits or it aborts and then you are clearly playing a bot. Often 10 players in a row will use the same openings. Or at 200 rating. Im playing people thinking 6 moves ahead or organizing defenses that you expect 1500 ratings to do.

Not everyone memorizes variations. But im seeing consistent variations of openings between large groups of people. Multiple games in a row.

I agree and am sure at least 10% of accounts are botts. What better way to increace revenues and stop players leaving the site due to lengthy waits for matches

Guy is manipulating rating by creating two nicknames

They are not necessarily bots. Some people play systems, whether as white or black, and from there certain sequences or patterns of play are, if not inevitable, at least typical.

MuhammadAsifsolangi

Definitely, chess.com is making us play with bots pretending to be humans.

BigChessplayer665

Actually humans are more repetitive than bots are . I am very much a system player I like playing the same openings all the time

The site does not use bots in the player pools.

No bots don't suck so much at chess

With a low calculating depth bots suck indeed, enourmously.

RandomChessPlayer62

The main evidence people here seem to have for these bots is how large groups of players are playing the same openings, King's Pawn and Queen's Pawn are the basic openings that most players know. Open Game, Sicilian, and French are the basic openings for black. Wayward Queen and Napoleon are most likely players who learnt about Scholar's Mate and never looked back. King's Knight and the openings that arise from it are the secondary basic openings alongside Reti that are less common but should be known by anyone with decent elo even if they don't actually memorise the theory behind them. That's all the common openings I know of and why they're common.

Geelse_zot

It's just a conspiracy theory like any other, something people like to believe because it gives reason to why they lose 50% of their games and why they're not higher rated. Instead of being rational , looking at their flaws and how they can improve.

edit: all your opponents are playing the same openings? Well everyone is watching GothamChess. I'm sure Caro-Kann is one of it.

RyanZ_MD

The way I see it, if you don't like it here because of bots, then leave and go to lichess or something.

No its not. I just played someone and after the game checked out their account for no good reason. It played me 30 times...under peoples names and as the bot, because I like to try stuff out on the bots. Please feel free to look at my last game, then hit the profile of the person I played. You will see the amount of times we have played. And under other names.

BigChessplayer665

The amount of times you played someone doesn't matter ...

And yes using bots as an excuse to why you lose 50% of your games when the design of qlicko is that you win almost 50% of the time(and lose 50% of the time) untill you become hikaru is a conspiracy theory
