You can have a chess.com app by itself, instead of having a shortcut on your desktop. Linking back to MankeNelisR, that app works. But instead of the long process, today, you can login to chess.com in google chrome, then there should be a popup on the address bar, which should look like this 
, then you click on that which pops up with this
, Click install and the app is installed onto your desktop and is only available on google chrome.

it's possible for chess.com to be an app for pc, you need to have google chrome to download it.
