How to stop losing pieces in opening

Hi friends. Today I am asking on how to stop dropping pieces in the opening. Recently I've lost a ton of games in rapid due to losing minor pieces (especially knights) in the opening and having to try and win against 2000+ with 2 pawns for a knight. I sometimes pull this off but not always. Anyways, back to my main point. How do I prevent this? By actually building an opening repertoire? Practicing tactics? Playing longer time controls than 10+0? Please someone give advice to help me combat this weakness.

ohk

I think you should check the openings in Which you are losing pieces and try to study them and you are telling that you lose Knights mostly so TRY to not Keep them on squares Which they May get trapped. example-there is a saying knight on the rim is dim. look for forks with the queen.example-when your knight is on a4 sometimes there are tactics like qa5+
