I Always resign
You say "I always resign" but I'm not quite clear of your question. There are a few threads on the subject of resignation, and how some people think that not resigning, when in a losing position, is unsporting.
Personally, I prefer to fight on, even when victory is clearly impossible. Partly in the hope that my opponent will blunder, or I can wrangle a checkmate. Partly just to practice my defensive play. Levy Rozman (Gothamchess) advises players below 1200 elo to never resign.
I keep on playing a) sometimes my opponent makes a mistake b) sometimes I can wrangle a checkmate c) sometimes my opponent gets disconnected, or runs out of time d) to practice defensive play.
Sometimes, if my position is absolutely hopeless I'll resign, but usually not.
75% of my losses are resignations. Seriously, I don’t understand what people learn from moving their king for 30 moves in hopes of stalemate. Especially in unrated, it makes no sense. I’ll play if I’m only down a knight or so, but if they drag it out to an endgame and I’m hopeless I will definitely resign
