Hi Erik , I think this may help  ...

found on

http://kitchen-parade-veggieventure.blogspot.com/2007/10/how-to-stop-inappropriate-ads.html

Blogher is helping publishers like me make our readers aware of the issue by providing this information:

"Blogher believes this issue is caused by a known vulnerability in Microsoft's IE 6.0 (specifically on Windows XP Service Pack 1 and Windows 2000) which exploits the iframe tags, the technology used by ad publishers to 'serve' ads onto websites.

If you have been experiencing this problem, we strongly recommend you both
  • update your browser to the current version of IE 7  and
  • download the most recent security patches for your operating system
  • Alternatively, replace Internet Explorer entirely with a non-IE browser, such as Firefox to further limit your security risk."

Hey everyone. I really need your help. Somehow there have been some inappropriate ads on Chess.com lately. We use over 30 ad networks to deliver ads so it isn't so easy to know where they are coming from. What I need is for someone to get one of those ads on a page and then leave it there and message me. Then we can work together to see where it is coming from so we can block it. If you are the first one to help me, then you will win a membership :) Again, you need to keep the ad page open so that we can figure out who is serving the ad, etc.

I'm really sorry if some of you are experiencing these ads :( We'll get it fixed ASAP.

I find that Classmates.com banner ad that takes over about 75% of your screen whenever you accidently mouseover it highly "inappropriate."  Whoever is responsible for that ad is doing a real disservice to Classmates - I'm sure I'm not the ONLY person in the world who flatly refuses to patronize businesses that use abusive advertising.  That thing is frickin' Web.Spam and it makes me smash up my furniture and scream at the cat whenever it hijacks my browser.

I haven't seen any, but now I'm premium, so... Mixed emotions Wink

You know what would just be completely evil?

1. Taking a pornographic image and photoshopping it into an ad, sizing it correctly and then 'shopping it into a screenshot of chess.com.
2. Report it, providing the information for the innocuous poker ad or what have you.
3. Gain a membership!

/Evil!
//Just kidding, they'd know.

I'm not sure if Rael actually wants to spread the idea around or he's honestly fighting the evil within...!  lol

Does this thing still apply? Anyways, just to help the site... I just saw an ad while looking at Zug's profile which showed some screensavers and I saw something there.  Here are the properties: Address: http://media.fastclick.net/w/click.here?cid=114463&mid=220447&sid=42665&m=1&c=0

Will open in: same window

Image properties:

Location: http://cdn.fastclick.net/fastclick.net/cid114463/media220447.gif

Type: GIF image (animated, 2 frames)

Image dimensions: 728px × 90px

Size of file: 26.49 KB (27127 bytes)

Alternate text: Click Here

Hope this helps! (Btw, if you're wondering where I got this, I clicked on the ad's properties)

I am trying to revive this thread as in the past few months the ads have gone from; Don't Drink and Drive and other socially conscious ads (which were one of the reasons I fell in love with this site besides the chess of course), and Now we have scantily clad girls and gambling on the page. I can't even open this website while I'm at school now so basically until this is fixed I can't use this website. I hope someone can help and revive this issue it obviously has happened before.

RedDalek

I would like to see the ads from imvu dot com removed from chess.com. The computer generated imagery is inappropriate for children.
