I've heard somewhere that yhere's a potential anti-chess organization, who wants to eliminate chess from the world...

They've already taken their first step by completely destroying lichess server.. Now, they are heading towards chess.com

If nothing is done about it, the future of this game might be in danger...

Ok?

That’s not gonna happen, chess is a worldwide game, played for centuries, there not going to be”destroy chess”

It happens. I don't think it's part of some anti-chess organization conspiracy. The Elo gatekeepers wouldn’t let this happen -because then who would they have to torture?

Lichess is free and non-profit, so their budget is limited. They can't afford the most powerful or reliable infrastructure. Even chess.com experiences issues sometimes, but it recovers quickly.

In my opinion, weak anti-cheating measures (which also require a serious budget) are more concerning than occasional downtime.

Can we not infect every forum possible with the "game is rigged" virus?

Let’s keep our guards up" emphasizes the importance of remaining vigilant and cautious. This phrase often suggests being proactive in safeguarding against potential risks or threats, whether in personal safety, cybersecurity, or health. Staying alert and prepared helps in anticipating and mitigating potential issues before they escalate. Those who keep spamming the forum with "the game is rigged" in thread after thread after thread should just leave.

Conspirationists always forget no one is going to throw large amounts of money and significant efforts into a conspiracy that brings.... Well, just no profit of any kind at all. Not even a free donut.

It's like in the movie "The Matrix", no one even wonder why these machines insist on taking electricity from human bodies, when they could do the same with cows or sheeps (being mamals aswell) at a much cheaper expense in energy for supporting the virtual world that goes with it. Grass, a sky, the sun, some water, that's it. No need for some complicated "NYC of the 90s" simulation.

And same goes with the movie "Alien Resurrection", where militaries do pay a crew of pirates, so they'll hijack a settlers transport in order to get humans so aliens can lay their "egg" in it. Would work all the same with animals, such as cows, pigs or sheeps.

But why wonder when being stupid is so much easier?

One conspiracy theory deserves another

The reputation of chess and the number of people playing it is declining severely. Chess is seen as a waste of time and energy. Something is going on. After the death of Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman, due to the cardiac arrest that happened to him while he was in an intense game, theories have come up about relation between chess, anxiety and strokes. Not a normal random person, but specifically a chess grandmaster, having a cardiac arrest at no other time but only during an intense match...

And now, the shut down of the second largest chess server, on no other day in the year but only 11th September. And nothing like this has ever happened in the history of lichess in the last one and a half decade...

And many other, small and unregistered incidents...

Something is going wrong... We have to be alert...

I disagree with this. I see hundreds of thousands, millions of people playing Chess all over the world. The Internet has hugely accelerated the accessibility and popularity of the game. Through websites such as LiChess and Chess.com it's possible to play dozens of games with opponents all over the world at any time of day, from the comfort of your own phone. There are thousands of videos, tutorials, coaches and streamers online, and there are more tournaments than ever. At least, this is how it looks to me. I don't see any evidence to support the view that Chess is in decline.
