NEW: Customize your Coach

Hey, all! Today we're fully rolling out several new options for your Chess.com Coach as seen in Lessons, Endgames, and the Daily Puzzle! Note that this changes only the Coach's appearance - not the quality of their advice! (You can also opt for just a disembodied voice, if you prefer. )

You can change your Coach via your Lessons Settings - but it's easiest to just click on the Coach's "collar" here, wherever he or she may be found.

Look for additional options and more Coaching fun coming in the near future!

What if you have no Coach equipped or in use?

Nothing changes. It just doesn't show an avatar

Can you turn off the coach?

Go to a game and the Analysis tab click the settings icon . Under Interface, toggle Show Coach to off.

can we make it a custom picture i want an amogus teaching me chess

That's not an option, just a pre-chosen selection or none.

I would like james canty to teach me chess

This doesn't work. There is no drop-down menu at the bottom of the avatar while I'm watching a video lesson. Also, going to Settings, Lessons, and changing my coach by highlighting a new one changes nothing. I just keep getting the same coach.

Maybe you need to update your computer. There are endless possibilities for that problem.

how do I bring back the coach after I selected none?

I am just a gold member for two months.
In Diamond member there is 

• Unlimited Game Review PLUS get coach explanations on all of your moves!.

Could anyone please show me some example of "coach explanations on your moves"?

Can we have a robot? Let's call him/her Leela, Geoffrey, Rolston, or Rigobert.

Changing the coach in settings still doesn't work, and there is still no drop-down menu on the coach's "collar." It's impossible to change coaches. Chess.com please fix this.

Settings > Lessons and just click the avatar you want.

I tested the option under a review and was able to change there without issue too 

I went to Settings > Lessons and clicked the avatar I wanted. The default was "David." After selecting a different avatar, and seeing it highlighted, I then went to watch a lesson, and I still got "David." Further, there is no drop-down menu at the bottom of the "David" in my lesson to switch avatars either, like it shows in the picture at the top of this thread. All I get is David. The reason I want to switch is because I'm sick of his voice.

I'm a Diamond member. I have no troubles with any other settings or features. I keep going back to change coaches every month or two in the hopes that this bug is fixed. But it's still there. 

What browser are you using? I just tested in Lessons and while the Lessons initially load with David, it replaced it quickly with the changed one on in setting and the option to change in the lessons was also there.

Also, if you have plugins/add-ons, it's possible they could be interfering with the ability to change.

Lastly, you might try clearing site cookies, if none of the above works.
