Opponent ends chat with "hail hitler" - how can chat be saved?

H1tler killed 11 million people…

PLAYcheckers123

Yet saying it can’t be a crime or punished in any way, since the person saying it isn’t doing any direct harm to anyone and is therefore completely innocent

Report them. You save a screenshot like you did and you report them.

shadowtanuki

It's offensive that they spelled heil wrong

PLAYcheckers123

Hail is a translation, so basically it's fine... it's kinda offensive and definitely very "exclusive," but not that bad.

TheeChessManCan

Sometimes trolls come to the community to troll, but this is too far.

Freedom of speech -- one can say whatever he wants and believe in whatever he wants. This includes 'hail Hitler' too. As long as it doesn’t directly harm anyone, people can do whatever they want

Now your other comment explains itself. This would be actually a sad platform, a sad chess community if one could say whatever he or she wants without consequences. There is no limitless freedom of speech, probably in no country.

On the one hand you say in one comment

"If I were a mod, I’d lock this thread and mute you for at least a month for provocation and attention-seeking"

on the other hand you write:

"Freedom of speech -- one can say whatever he wants and believe in whatever he wants. This includes 'hail Hitler' too."

I think that is all one has to know about your view on "freedom of speech".

AlbertWW

while what he said was quite racist he did not actually insult you.

Jenium

Yeah, freedom of speech refers to the right to say things without going to prison. Doesn't mean McDonald's have to tolerate a campaign for veganism inside their building.

while im all for freedom of speech, chess.com is a private company and when you sign up you agree to not say certain things and im betting "all hail austrian man" is one of them

Just block the chat. What more is there to discuss.

As you can see I would like to talk about improving communication culture. Just blocking doesn´t change anything.

Unfortunately, in a completely anonymous system, some people that wouldn't normally be abusive, feel they can be online. It's just not possible to get those that are that way to improve their communications

Here that's certainly not true and doing so can result in the loss of posting privileges or account closure

Hehe your country has very little freedom of speech my friend, don’t act like such a hypocrite in public

I’m not in Russia, nerd. I just put the flag to show my support.

I notice that many people don´t accept a chat any more and I don´t blame them. Many times people start with a chat it is kind of rude or bullying.

What could encourage a better communication culture? More politeness? A rating system for chats?

Sometimes I think it would be better to be able to exclude or include some countries for the selection process for an opponent. In Germany a "hail hitler" would at least be prosecuted.

Then the sooner they get a sense of humour, the better. They have to get over the past.
