Resign Already!

I’ve noticed in most of my wins my opponent refuses to resign in a hopeless position. This is poor etiquette and makes for a much less enjoyable chess game.

How about adding backgammon’s doubling cube to chess? For the player offering double odds they’d get +2 for a win (double the rating points of course), -2 for a loss, and -1 for a draw (the player accepting the double gets +1 for a draw obviously).

IMrosen taught me to never resign. Check out some of his draws its quite amazing.

It's poor etiquette to expect someone to resign because you think they should.

MeekThought
There are unwritten rules of etiquette in chess. Poor sports ignore them.

Never Resign!

If a position is hopeless for your oponent then just checkmate them, if you can't then why are you claiming that the position is hopeless?

If I'm playing a timed game, I'm going to the mat.  Sorry if you don't like it.  Even in an untimed game I'm going to fight for the draw if I think it's possible.  Maybe your endgames need work?

If you’re opponent still has time on his clock , if wishes to continue playing he may do so .

I got trashed one game, but then I kept playing. The guy made a mistake, and I ended up checkmating him. Thats why you shouldn't resign.

Yes, sometimes I´m also a bit angry if one player plays on and on. But on the other hand if he or she does not resign it´s your part to checkmate this person. Show your skills, find the quickest way to finish him/her off and that´s it!

JonThree

Never resign in a timed game.

you have absolutely no reason to resign in bullet

binomine

If you can't mate with a superior piece advantage, then that is your problem and not your opponent's.

My only advice to you is to GET GOOD N00B

ive won games even down a queen b4

I agree. No one is every wrong for choosing not to resign. If they want to play, their choice not yours.

That´s not a really good example. To loose the Queen was part of your plan. It´s nearly similar to legals mate. Nobody would resign in such a situation....
