If I get a salary I'll do it. Nobody's gonna work for free on a site that makes money, you know?

Stack Exchange has no difficulty to find thousands of people who are eager to work for free. In an other area, big-money sporting events make use of volunteers.

You are calling the existing mods nobodies. Time to get your beard out of your ...

Uncle_Poo

If that's how you interpret it, fine.

I was going to joke that your company car is your own pair of P. F. Flyers.

I was flabbergasted to find out they still sell them...

Hans is pretty demanding with those food delivery services. You might not get tipped...

When is a business a community?

When people work for nothing...

I'm sure the owners do very well from chess.com - and good luck to them - but asking for "volunteers" for a business that I assume must be worth a few hundred thousand or millions a year? I don't think so...

I can imagine the conversation "when you're a GM you don't have to tip, everyone knows that, I never tip, I'm a GM."

Considering how much I'm involved and active with the chess.com community already; I'd be happy to help chess.com by being a mod if they judge me a good fit for the position and if I deem the position a good fit for me

I'll check out the application

I think you would be a great mod! Very helpful and knowledgeable person!

Yeah this guy would clearly be a great volunteer mod alright.

Oh yeah, this @kesetokaiba guy.

Ever since he started posting so politely I figured he was thinking of being a mod... and I'm not even mad about it, he seems like a genuinely nice guy

Thanks @llama36 - if you scroll back a few pages in this thread you'll see I was accepted and so yes I am a chess.com mod now; there are others joining too, but everyone can make chess.com a better place starting in the present - one doesn't need an icon next to their username to be a friendly person, or to help others

Nice
