The Glicko rating system is a method for assessing a player's strength in games of skill. It was invented by Mark Glickman as an improvement of the Elo rating system, and initially intended for the primary use as a chess rating system. Regards

is 42 glicko good?

Optimissed

Glicko is inaccurate, due to fundamental mistakes in its conception.

Thanks!

The higher your glick RD is, the more you will gain rating points after each win.

However, if you lose, you will lose points in similar fashion. Glick RD is at its highest when you are completely new because it is not confirmed what your true rating / strength     is.

The value of Glicko RD decreases over time and you get fixed in a rating range. After that, it becomes really hard to reach higher ratings.

If your Glicko RD is too low and you want to Increase it, you need to stop playing for a long time.

I dont really mind it going low

It's a direct function of how frequently you play. Play a lot and it will stay low. The more a person plays, the more accurately their results will reflect their strength at the time. The less frequently they play, the less accurately their results reflect their strength so glicko rating is the inverse of the degree of confidence on the accuracy of a person's rating at any time. The idea is that the higher the confidence value, the less individual wins and losses should alter the rating and the lower the confidence value then vice versa.

my glicko is 19... is that a bad sign?

Anonymous_Dragon

The more you play ...the lower is your glicko RD.

The lesser you play the higher is your glicko RD.

So its basically a factor that assesses the accuracy of your rating. So for instance if you see a guy rated 1900 with a high glicko rd , you must know that his rating may not be accurate or in other words he may not be a 1900 player ...could be more could be less. Whereas a guy with a similar rating and a low glicko rd , you can be assured that the rating shown on his profile truely reflects his strength.

That is your Bullet Glicko,  and is lower than your Blitz Glicko, and that is lower than your Rapid. It simply means that all things being equal, you play much more Bullet.

It also means that your Bullet Rating is the most reliable of the Three in all probability, and definitely more stable.

I am sure you by now realise that your Glicko has nothing to say about your ability, but a lot about how regularly you play. of course, in a back to front way., lower Glicko means you play a lot. High Glicko, you are probably a beginner at that type of Chess, or it is a long time since you played in that pool..

In simple words it tells a person how reliable your rating is. If its low then its accurate. If its high its not.

Example of getting higher Elo with Glikko system:
I was about 1560 on lichess and I lost to some 1300s and dropped to 1530. This made my Glikko really high, and when I played after that I got like +10 Elo on beating a similar-skilled opponent, instead of the +5 I usually get.

Hello
talharizwaan

I think it has something related to rating.
