Not exactly shocking (it's just a trade of rooks) but I agree with one of the poster's that it's relative to players of different strengths. I wonder what the reaction would be to a "smothered mate". 
I recall a game of mine played last year which utilizes the same tactic snaring the guy's queen. Since it was a correspondence game, I got the idea after the trading my queen for his rooks.
Not really as shocking. I saw it on the first move! You get an eye for these things after a while.
