Three fold repetition is often misunderstood. Not that I am a GM but I once made an invalid three fold claim and I think my opponent got two minutes added to his clock. He should have accepted the invalid claim however as I ended up winning the game.

GM Gukesh just threw away a win on move 40 in the Tata Steel tournnament against Pragg after voluntarily allowing the same position for the 3rd time - missing that it didn't matter it wasn't the same move that produced the position!
Which has direct consequences for the chances of other contenders in the final round tomorrow. Even Giri comes back in the picture to repeat last years victory!
