Cato, I meant at the end of your line (which was the only time Rd1 was available). Although, I do like white's chances with a knight and 3 connected pawns against a rook.

DavidL had the right line in comment#2. 45...Rd8 looks faster, but White threatens mate (if Rxd4) with 46.Nf5 and has 47.Nd6.

Understated and true.
White missed a 2-move checkmate: after 47...Rc2, white can simply play 48.e6+, black has to take Rxb2, and then 49.Re8 mate.
I am black in this game, I was able to pull off a draw. I want to take a closer look at this, because it seems to me my opponent could have had some winning chances. Esp, before the questionable 40. a5
Anyone care to comment on this endgame?
