My endgame could really need some attantion , so I am looking for a good endgame book.
Has anyone any experience with Silman's Complete Endgame Course?
I have!
I have a copy of Silman's, and I found it is really not to my liking. I use "A guide To the Chess Endings" by Dr. Max Ewve and David Hooper. Full Disclosure, My copy is ancient. His explanations are excellent. The book is divided into Sections such as King and Pawn Ending, Etc.
The Rook endings, K and Pawn endings, and Queen endings sections I would rate as excellent. The minor piece section is OK. This book has been around since 1959 and was re released in 1976. I am not sure that is has been re released in Algebraic notation though.

Not certain I understand your question - there isn't a draw rule specifically for a lone King.
However, there are draw rules about insufficient material, 3-fold repetition and also the 50-move rule. If you google these I'm sure you'll be able to answer your own question.

I read in prisons, there is a thirteen move rule.
If black has only a lone king, white must mate him in 13 moves or game is a draw.
Or vice versa.

You'd have to know your stuff to win K+B+N v K is prison then!
That 13 move draw rule is bogus, but, if one were in prison, it might be wise to treat it as a "let the Wookie win" situation.

LOL
Reuben Fine's Basic Chess Endings, updated by Pal Benko. That book is way harder to digest than Silman's, although it's definitely way ahead in terms of content and thoroughness. Get Fine/Benko if you can stomach hours of serious endgame study from long lines of notation, get Silman if you want something lighter and easier to read.
the best for <2000 ...my level. Much 2000 i don't know.
