Chess Tips for Beginners and Intermediates

The tips your recommending seems a little outdated.

I have stopped telling beginners to learn Rook & Pawn End Games because it’s pretty pointless.

A beginner winning 1 game in the End Game doesn’t make up for them losing 10 games in Opening.

Their rating is still not going to increase.

——————————————

If you told a beginner to resign any game which reaches past 20 moves, Than taught them how to play the first 20 moves in a game exceptionally well.

Their overall rating would increase.

If you look at a lot of beginner profiles, you will see a lot of loses & wins.

The majority of games will be resigned at around move 10.

———————————

Short time controls are bad idea as well.

Most beginners play fast even in longer time controls which is bad habit.

You really want them to play long time controls.

——————————-

I’m not sure why you grouped your tips for Intermediate players & beginner players.

Intermediate players have a lot of other issues which they should focus on which are pretty unrelated to beginners.

.My dear brother. thank you for your comment..

however, these tips are not technical but rather psychological in nature overall. as for what you mentioned about beginner and intermediate players, yes technically the training approach may differ but not significantly- only in a minor way.

Really?

It’s interesting to hear you say the training approach of Beginners & Intermediate are not significantly different.

Every Chess Coach has their own method on how to teach students.

In my case, my method is completely different.

My Method for beginners is to teach them Opening, Attacking Chess, & Basic Checkmating.

I don’t teach them Middle Games or Endgames.

I give them only 1 Middle Game & Endgame plan.

Attack enemy King till it’s Checkmate - Any move they play in Middle Game & Endgame is fair game as long as enemy King is dead.

——————————————

I teach Intermediate players Middle Games, Defensive Chess, & Positional Chess

Their is nothing similar between Beginners & Intermediate players in my case.

No - I have never Coached for Chess.com so people don’t need to visit my page.

I use to be a Chess Coach, but I have stopped.

I stopped because Chess Coaching takes a lot of time and effort.

You was talking about Tips to help Chess players improve.

I was asking you don’t you think your tips are outdated?

Than I asked you don’t you think giving the same tips for Beginners & Intermediate isn’t correct?

——————————

Your response was the following:

1) The Tips you gave are general

2) The Training Approaches for Beginners & Intermediate may differ, but not significantly.

———————————

At this point, I thought you was a Coach because only a Coach would say what you said.

This is why I started talking about how Coaches methods of training can be different.

———————————

Turns out you are not a Coach!

Which than begs the question, Why on earth are you talking about the Training approaches for Beginners & Intermediate players?

If your not a Coach, Than how do you know the training approaches of Beginners & Intermediate players differ only minor?

Your making this up out of thin air?

We are on a Chess Forum.

We are having a Conversation.

- No need to delete or rewrite anything.

We are supposed to have a discussion.

A Chess Forum with no discussion is useless.

People learn and come up with new ideas from discussions.

The important thing is having Chess passion!

Do you feel strongly about your Tips?

Do you feel your Tips will help a player reach a higher Chess rating so they can feel the enjoy of improvement?

If the answer is Yes, Than your Tips are amazing!

If the answer is No, Than we should talk about your Tips to see why you think they are not amazing!

It is the Month of Joy.

Christmas has come at last.

Tell the people reading this thread did you use these same tips to improve your rating as well?

I did 1 of your tips in my own chess journey.

I played 15-10 time control games.

- 15 time game with 10 min increments was my favorite time control as beginner!

i thought as a low level player not a beginner just terrible at chess their is a difference -- your thoughts where very good - mind you very hard to abhor to but just the same for the right student just beginning chess very very good -- that being said -- old dog new tricks are harder to over come and if i where to try to follow your examples i would fail more often than succeed - maybe if they where personally taught with game against to show the student exactly what you are talking about that might work but just to say do this do that only the most gifted student of chess could do it --maybe one even whom really doesn't need lessons but has the gift from the start-- so the rest of us are doomed to fail and yet your discussion of these matters of teaching principals is still very valid to read -- its just is it reelevate to the masses here or to the just to the elite

Thanks Bro!

only two tips needed for beginners: do puzzles. Watch videos. 2 useful tips for intermediates: You have to study chess and still do puzzles. Don't be scared of rating/opponents rating. Once you beat someone much higher rated and stop seeing a player 200 points higher than you as an impossible task, your rating will improve.
this is general advice and is not going to work for everyone. It is what worked for me and that is all that I have to offer
