Yes, I believe everyone should pick an opening they enjoy and are comfortable with.
If you play an opening which you don’t like, I think it causes more harm vs. good.
People - especially weaker players - put WAY too much emphasis on memorizing opening lines.
Everyone wants a quick fix... a way to get better scores without much work.
If they ignored that fashionable nonsense and spent even HALF that amount of time on important things - like King-and-Pawn or Rook-and-Pawn endgames, model mates and central Pawn formations - they would get twice as much benefit from it.
No gain without pain, people.
