You Don't. You'll get a passive position and your opponent will get better space, as well as having flexible pawn breaks so you don't know what to expect. Your opponent will get powerful attacking opportunities, active piece play, and a comfortable space advantage while you will have to just shuffle your pieces around in a passive position in which you can't do anything about. A single well- calculated attack can send your position, and your game, into a tailspin VERY quickly. How do you expect to win if you can't even check your opponent? A good defense is a strong offense. Chess isn't a computer game. Play aggressively and do tactics.
Hello. In other games i have played i have liked to build Great defences. For example in Starcraft with siege tanks and bunkers. What is the best way to do this in chess? My strategy will be to build a fort and wait until he attacks or run out off time. Wich rating will i get?
