How to get better playing black?

Why are openings explained for white, but seemingly not for black? I now play much worse playing black.

As Black, try to embrace playing reactively or defensively, aiming to counter White’s plans rather than initiating them. Black can sometimes benefit from a more cautious or waiting approach before striking back.

Not sure why that is...... But I noticed some are better about that then others. Umm I was watching belissa chess playing and realized one difference between 1200 me and 1800 her is that 1800s don't just play chess but also go where they take control of as much territory as they can attack at all times... It's not a line as black but.....
