Setting up a custom position

Sort:

Yes I've googled for this but for the life of me I can't find how you setup a custom position and play it. I'm interested in setting up a position and then playing the computer. When I've googled for instructions nothing matches up with what I'm seeing in Chess.com!? Do I have to have paid membership?

You have to use the website. Go into Learn/Analysis. Set up a position. Load it. Click the "VS" icon.

Tada

Yes I'm using the website.

When you say "Set up a position" how do you actually do this? Please explain as this can mean many things.

I had assumed to set up a position all I had to do was:

Learn...analysis...setup.... then I'm presented with a new game but I can't clear the board so that I can drag and drop pieces I want onto the board. I know it's not rocket science but they don't make this easy??!

Okay just found the trash bin/clear board tool  happy.png

Okay I've setup my position and when I hover over the 'VS' icon it says 'Finish vs Computer' and if I click on it, it opens up a new tab with a new game with a full set of pieces.

Could someone help me out with proper instructions please?

Hmm, it does work differently on my PC.  I reported the bug to the developers using the bug report tool.

 Have fun storming the castle.

Thank you. I'm going to be giving Lichess and youtube a go. The fact I can't get custom positions setup on here does not inspire me with confidence as this must be a feature that's used a lot, strange?!

It may be something you want but I think most people have had separate engines to do that sort of thing.  It's nice to know it works on the chrome app. I would bet they will have it fixed soon.

I can set up a custom position to play agiant the computer, but the computer always takes White and gives me Black. I'd like to play both sides. How can I do that? What did I miss? Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I spend ages setting up the custom position and when I click load or play vs computer it just resets to a new game and deletes the custom position

I'm didn't have any problem in Chrome Pc

I setup a Queen+ K vs Rook +K, and press play vs computer, and really I can play start with the position. And I get white.
