I often find that happens @DianaMatiushcenko - you'll be flat for a while and then suddenly surge a 100 points - sometimes things seem to fall together and you have a good run of games.
Typical rating progression pace?
Same! Dropping in with another update almost exactly 3 years on from when I first posted this topic! Just hit 2100 today!
625 = 3 weeks.
800 = 7 weeks.
1000 = 2.5 months.
1200 = 4 months. (Around the time I posted this very topic 3 years ago!)
1400 = 5 months.
1500 = 8 months.
1600 = 1 year, 1 month.
1700 = 1 year, 6 months.
1800 = 2 years, 1 month.
1900 = 2 years, 6 months.
2000 = 2 years, 9 months.
2100 = 3 years, 4 months.
2200 = ???
The above relate to my blitz progress, I climbed through rapid ratings a little quicker.
I should also say, whenever I hit a new milestone, it was not uncommon for me to swing back down a 100 points or so and fluctuate month on month until improvement and consistency caught up!
I don't know, but it took me 2 weeks to get to 654 in rapid, I got to 766 in a week but kept losing.

most people playing for years never even make it to 1000 blitz on here. Having a coach or playing in an OTB club can really help. Teaching yourself requires alot of natural talent.
maybe, but a lot of more dedication.
I've been playing for about a year. I've gone from ~300 to 750. I'd say in terms of innate ability I'm at least average.
I gained 65 ratings today in rapid I played about 10 matches, but now I'm just dropping down and I am now 673 in rapid and I can't get up anymore, any suggestions? I keep getting paired with people with higher ratings though 0_0 should I maybe take a break and come back later?
I'm really stuck on 670 anyone have any tips that a player at 670 rating good use?(rapid)
grind out some puzzles, and since you have diamond take all the beginner lessons here on chess.com, just grinding puzzles and doing the chess.com lessons got me to 1500
I’m gonna stay out of this thread because I have never been below 1400. Maybe that’s because I played for decades before I had a rating.
I used to play but forgot chess and came back recently. 1 week: 500 in rapid 2 week: 761 rapid 3 week: drop to 600 Today: Also in the 3rd week 684 Is this good?
How long did it take you?
hit 1000 after about 10 months but within a 2 month period which is when I started grinding puzzles and lessons I went up to 1500 pretty fast
My thread on the pace I am having.
