I've run through Flickr chess images on several occasions; and while some of them are of very high quality, I have one nit-pick--an unreasonable proportion of chess pictures use the cheap frosted-glass chess sets you can get in supermarkets for $9.95. I see very few pictures using the kind of sets OTB players use for everyday play. If there's a chess set that really tells a story, it's a decades-old, coffee-stained vinyl board with scratched and scuffed plastic pieces.

Your right. I've been considering shooting some boards. I think I'll take this tact. I haveĀ a few well-worn sets.
