Here is a news article about the unfortunate loss of a police officer and how it inspired some local members of the community to start chess clubs in the area:

One of the friends of the officer who was slain was inspired to do something to prevent this unfortunate circumstance from happening again. With help from the local community this person raised funds for a special chess tournament and also funds to start a few local chess clubs in the area. This is in the hopes that the influence of chess will help to limit violence in the local area.
