Which chess piece would you rather be in real life?

The king is the only piece that never dies. Sure you can be checkmated but you aren't captured by another piece. You just lose the game.

In real life you can't be a chess piece.

I'd be a lazy bastard, sorry a king: get's to live the whole game out, everyone protects you and does all the work, and you only have to move one step at a time. 

I'll  rather be the board.....  

I'd like to be the black c-pawn... either that, or the white light square bishop. Why? I don't know.

I'd like to be the chessboard, the most important piece of the chess set.

Neither side can capture the chessboard and remove it.

I make the highest income in the house, and I am Caucasian, so that leaves only one option:

A knight...unpredictable and strikes fear onto opponents

Being a pawn would be the worst. You get to the 8th rank, against astronomical odds, and you find that although you get promoted it involves a sex change

IpswichMatt--How do you know that pawns are not female?  Or named Bruce Jenner?

Good point IGP. We don't know that Queens are female either - since there is more than one definition of the word Queen

Ipswich---Who ever thought back when chess was invented, in a day and age when kings were men and queens were women--by definition--that one day, pawns would have gender identity issues?  Go figure. 😵

I notice quite a few people are choosing the king. Has it occurred to anyone that, sooner or later, the king is tasked with one of the most grueling experiences on the board? I'm talking about castling. In castling, the king is forced to make a tremendous leap-- twice what he is accustomed to-- and simultaneously must lift a tower of rocks over his head to place behind him!

I don't know about you, but I would not want to have to do that...
