The deadly knight

Chess studies are often profound, subtle or instructive. But some are just plain fun. Here's an example in which you can do what you probably often dreamed of in your regular club games. Go for it, have a ball!

What beautiful technique.

Reminiscent of the purported "Game of the Century" Byrne v Fischer. Knight and Bishop dancing with the king picking up goodies on the fly.
foxyoberly
that is truely amazing! kinda funny as well.

What's easy to miss in this puzzle is that the knight is not picking up material in order to be ahead in material. Each piece taken is necessary to clear the mate. Also, there are some move orders that don't work. Pretty cool.

Cool.

Very good one!

This is the mysticism of knights. Petty cool, indeed.

Amazing, gotta love the knights.

that why knights are the best.

Why exactly was it necessary to take the bRd8 and bPd6? Other than that, a beautiful combination.

Loomis

It's necessary to take the rook at d8 so that black can't block the check with Rd5.

The same goes for taking the pawn on d6. If 1. Nxe5+ then 1. ... d5 shuts down the whole combination.

ouch!
