On your 8th move, did you consider Nxf7? I also might have considered 7 0-0, but you were probably right to attack while the opportunity was there. Fill me in on what you were thinking.
A nice move
well i didnt want to play Nxf7 on my 8th move because i didnt want him mobilizing his knight or bishop and blocking my attack. Nh6 would of been a problem, but I was hoping that by threatening black's king, queen and rooks with my knights he would be too focused on other things to play Nh6. Besides, I would of still have gained a material advantage (rather than checkmate) if black played Nh6.
You only attained checkmate because of Black's mistakes, not because of your eigth move. After 8 Nxf7, Nh6?. I don't see the same thing you do.
My Nxf7 idea was without any chess engine help... and now that I've checked the engine it agrees with me.
One thing I didn't notice before, 9 c3 loses the advantage because of Bxe5. After 10 dxe5 Qxe5 there is something close to equality.
Well i agree 8. Nd5 and 9.c3 are mistakes. Hmmm Instead of Nd5 maybe i should of played Nb5? Then if 8.Nh6 9.Nc7+! wins me a rook.
I guess Nxf7 is the best move after all hehe. I didn't see Nh6 at all, i should of been paying more attention.
Hi, first post here :)
One thing I learned from this game is I need to stay more confident in my attacks and push them. This was also my first try at the king's gambit, and I enjoyed playing it. Any comments would be appreciated.
