Analysis needed

Sort:
Hazezon

I'm new here to Chess.com, and need some analysis to improve my game!  I think I had a fair chance in this game, but a few mistakes blew it.  What do you guys think?

I have also provided my own thoughts.

4. ... Nxd5. How about 4. ... e4 first saving your pawn. Of course, you could have a lot of trouble on the e-file since your king could be vulnerable.

6. ... Nc6. Maybe 6. ... Nf4 attacking the queen and the g2 pawn. For example, 7. Qe4 Nxg2+ 8. Qxg2 Qxe5+ and you have regained your pawn.

8. ... Qxe2+. Why not 8. ... bxc6 first? Then if he takes your queen, you recapture in a way that develops your bishop.

13. ... Re8. You have a chance to win a pawn with 13. ... Nxd3 since this opens a discovered attack from your f8 bishop to the knight on a3.

17. ... Be6. I prefer trying to get your other bishop and rook into the game with 17. ... Bd6 or 17. ... Bc5.

"I hope he takes my bishop." Never hope. Always expect your opponent to play his best move.

you do need some practices in practice but a few other choices that did not lead to a loss in material were still questionable

example 9...Nb4 this sort move is obvious and easily defended against. you should play assuming your opponent knows how to defend instead of betting on them blundering. Besides the Knight already had a strong central post at d5

Example 11...O-O-O better to play Bd6 claiming more central space and then castle Kingside. the doulbled c pawns are weak and expose your King. there were still plenty of pieces left on the board so exposeing the King is a bad idea. Plus if you had casled kingside you could have put your rooks on the open e and d files. From that position you would be completely dominate. When you gain a material advantage you should consolidate you postion and stop enemy counterplay instead of continuing the offensive
