34...Re7 wasn't such a massive blunder because 34...Kg8 was also losing. 34...Kg8 38.Rb8! and now 38...Rxb8 39.Qxb8# or 38...h6 39.Rxe8+ losing.
The real question is, when did your position become lost?

28. ... Qc3 you were probably concerned with promoting your a rank pawn and wanted to get your queen out of the way, but you should have probably opened up an escape for your king by pushing the g pawn.
32. Kxe8 would have also been good for you, since it keeps the c7 pawn protected with your rook.

28...Qc3 leaving my back rank weak?
24.a5! - Here White sacrifices a pawn to open up the b-file.
I love this move! White understands that it's often worth a pawn to seize the open file and put rooks on the seventh rank.
28...Qc3 leaving my back rank weak?
I like 28...h6, creating "luft", breathing room for your king. A weak back rank was the weakness that led to your downfall. But even then White looks better. He controls the open file and soon will be on your seventh rank.
31...Kf8 I believe this to be an error. Looking back I prefer Qa5 to be stronger as it protects the c7 pawn.
I think even here, 31...h6 could have saved you. If 31...Qa5 32.R1b5 your queen is forced to flee... what did 31...Qa5 accomplish? If 32...Qe1+ 33.Kh2 you're back to the original position except your queen is further away so it's worse.
This dry game moved to a tough endgame in which I blundered badly and consequently lost the game. As I am a beginner I need to know if I am moving in the right direction. Comments are made from me. Thanks in advance.
