90% accuracy is not unusual for some level of players. Sometimes a beginner can also play well occasionally and get 90% accuracy.

good

I am a beginner I had an exceptionally good game a few days ago, and scored 90%. Normally I come in at 70-80%.

Getting more than 75% accuracy is already good for people below 1000 elo. Congrats on your great game !

I'm a 748 elo and I scored an accuracy of 90.5 only making 1 inaccuracy and 0 blunders misses and mistakes. Should be worried about getting such a high score.

I don't play that often that's why I'm a beginner.

Short games mean high accuracy

I know a person who literally got 100 Accuracy by making a draw at the start of a game lol

chesswinner158

It was a long game. I won by mate.

Oh

We’re you low on time tho

I’m 1100 and I get 90 frequently but I can’t keep win streaks just because by opponent either had more accuracy then mine or I made a big blunder and probably only got 80 or 70 accuracy

Hold up, I just got 96 accuracy in a game (18 moves), and all I did was find a move to get my opponents queen and I kept checking him. I am scared because this is an insanely high accuracy for an 800-900 like me. Here is the game: https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/76792203575?tab=analysis

i think its rare and happens every so often, we all have average accuracies that typically range from 75%-90% you could just have ¨negative tilt¨ right now

It's very normal maybe every other game someone gets 90%

Hi Duckfest, I have a question:

I have been having a really high acuraccy recently, and it is just comming out of the blue. Is this normal, even though my games are normally20-40 moves long?

I'm not really sure what exactly it is you are asking. In the last two weeks you have played 15 Rapid games, winning 12, losing 1 and drawing 2 of them. That's a great result. And by the looks of it you have played very good chess in most of these games.

Is it normal? If I take normal to mean that it's normal to have such a high accuracy game after game, or that's it's normal to win almost every game? No, this is an exceptional winning streak and you shouldn't expect to keep it up. Just enjoy it while it lasts.

Is it normal? If we take normal to mean, is it normal that winning streaks like this happen? Yes. You played only high accuracy games, recently, but that's not entirely unexpected in 30-min games. You've played only one or two games per day, significantly less than most of your opponents. You're probably more focused each game than they are. Finally, based on your puzzle rating (hovering between 2800 and 3000), you're Rapid rating should be higher than it is now. (and for the record: based on the mistakes you did make, you're not suspected to be cheating).

Only you will know what's the reason you're playing at really high accuracy out of the blue. My outsider perspective is that you're likely to keep winning games as long as you keep playing with the same amount of focus, gaining another 100 or maybe 200 rating points. As you climb and face better opponents your winrate will decline and probably your accuracy as well.

Hope this answers your question. Good luck!
