My First Go at Game Analysis

Sort:
BigBoy

This is a game I played against Chessbot3000 v BigBoy  1. e4 This is the best move for a beginner to play. It clears the way for the Bishop and Queen to Come into the Game.  1... e5 I had many options I couls have Played 1..c6 The sicilian. or 1...c6 Caro khan or e6 french or Nf6 Alekhine's Defence All off the both coluld lead or transpose into any opening. So I played e5 A king pawn opening.   2. Nf3 This move attacts my pawn on e5 So it needs defending there are few options I have here. I could play Nf6 and attack his pawn or d6 which would Block the KB so not a very good at all Nc6   2... Nc6 3. Bb5 Ruy Lopez opening. The Bishop attacts the Knight and puts Pressure on e5 ( Pressure is having more Pieces attacking a square. Against the pieces defending that square.)   3... a6 Giving white a choice to take Knight or Not. 4.Bxc6 dxc6 5.Nxe5 Qd4 gets the Pawn back  4. Ba4 Nf6 5. Nc3 Be7 6. O-O b5 7. Bb3 Bb7 This is my first Mistake. 7.Bb3 O-O should have been played here. Also my Bishop would be better placed on c8-a3 diag. There was no reason what so ever to put my Bishop on b7 so I have to say, it is a useless move. It shows my lack of understanding of the posistion.  8. Re1 O-O Its important to castle early even though i should have castled my last move.  9. d4 White Pushes his d4 now just on cue also opens a line for Queen Bishop to develop.  9... d5 This is My 2nd Mistake. Better Would be 9.d4 exd4 or Bb4 Lets look at exd4 10.Nxd4 Na5 leaving a bad bishop on b3. Bb4? 10 dxe5!! (Bxc3 11.bxc3 Ng4 12.Ba3 Wins for white Re8 13.Qd5! Ngxe5 14.Nxe5 Na5 15.Qxf7+ Kh8 16.Qh5 and Black has to give up his Rook to avoid a really Nice Mate with Ng6++) So exd4 would be best here I think.  10. exd5 My 3rd Mistake I see my Knight being attact, and Move it without considering 1 other possible move. 1 of them is Nxd4 11.Nxd4 exd4 12.Ne2 Bxd5 13.Bxd5 Qxd5 14.Nxd4 Bc5 15 Be3 and It would equal chances on both side.  10... Nb4 11. dxe5 Nfxd5 12. Nxd5 Nxd5 13. Be3 Nxe3 14. Rxe3 Qxd1+ 15. Rxd1 Bxf3 16. Rxf3 c5 17. Bd5 Rad8 18. Rfd3 c4 19. R3d2 Bg5 20. Rd4 Rfe8 21. f4 Be7 22. e6 Bc5 Pinning Rook here would not Work because of 23.exf7+ Kf8 24 fxe8=Q+ Kxe8  Another mistake comes now with f6  22... f6 fxe6 23.Bc6 Bc5 24. Kf1 Rxd4 25.Rxd4 Bxd4 26.Bxe8 Bxb2 27 Bd7 Looks equal  23. Kf1 Rd6 24. Kf2 h5 25. f5 Kh7 26. Kg3 Kh6 27. Kf4 g5+ This move lost me the game very quickly  28. fxg6 I did not think about En-passant move, and if you do not Know about the Move at all. It can look a strange Move. But it is a legal chess move it happens when a pawn is on the 7th or 2nd Rank as in this game, moves 2 squares and becomes on the same Rank with your Opponents Pawn, it can take it as if you just move that Pawn 1 Square.   28... Kxg6 Kxg6. Lost me a Bishop as you will see in the Game But we both Missed The Combination here 29.Be4+  29. g4 hxg4 30. Kxg4 Now I was thinking Red8 here at this point. But for some Reason I thought it might Bishop Might need d8 at some point. I still missed the Combination so attact the pawn on h2.  30... Rh8 31. Be4+ At Last The Winning combination was finaly spotted first by White to my suprise I put" Good Move " in the message Board. It can really suprize you with nice little combinations that can make the difference. But they are not all easy to find. Some you do not expect them in the own games But again Very well Spotted by White.  31... Kg7 32. Rxd6 Bxd6 33. Rxd6 a5 34. Rd5 Re8 35. Bf5 And Here I Resigned. I had been given a good Chess Lesson in this game. And I learned a lot from the Game as you can see. Well it is the best way to study your games by analysing them. You try. And yes it is my own work no engine was used. My first game that I have Analysed so be gentle on me. At least I gave it my best Go. Right to check this with an engine now and see what else i Missed.

Good Job I saved my Work Because there Were errors using the board insert method.

Might be because my Analysis might be too long.

After 9.d4 Nxd4 looks better than 9...d5.  If 10.Nxe5, then 10...Nxb3 and 11...d6.  If 10.Nxd4 exd4 11.Nd5 c5 looks OK.

After 9...d5, perhaps better is 10.dxe5 Nxe4 11.Nxd5 and 12.Rxe4.

Perhaps 10...Nxd4 11.Nxd4 exd4 12.Qxd4 b4 and 13...Nxd5

Insted of 13.Be3, perhaps 13.a4 or 14.Qd4 or 14.c3

15...Bxf3 doesn't look good.  Perhaps 15...Rad8 and try to exchange Rooks, then play ...a5.

17...Rad8 may be too risky.  Perhaps 17...Ra7 or 17...Rb8 to support the Q-side pawns.

Instead of 18.Rfd3, better seems 18.Ra3, winning a pawn.

7... Bb7 isn't so bad as you think.  You tried to do something useful with the piece, but neglected the urgency of the center.  For that reason, I don't think 7...0-0 is best either.   My vote is for 7...d6.

1. It opens another diagonal for the QB.

2. It protects e5

3. The c6 knight is freed of guard duty.

4. Black's king is not in danger.

5. White's c pawn is blocked, so a semi-restricted position for Black is OK.  There is no danger of a White pawn center at e4 and d4.

For 8...0-0 I still prefer 8...d6

Move 9.  I don't understand your comment about a bad bishop at b3.  A 'bad bishop' is a bishop resting on the same color as its pawn chain.  In this position there is no pawn chain.

I don't think that  14... Qxd1+ was a good move because it gives white's rook the d-file for free.
