Here’s a game that I annotated according to Game Analysis’ key events.

I felt really smart when I found the brilliant move, as one does

I doubt that I would ever consider a move I played to be genuinely brilliant. After all, it can't be that hard to find, given that I did, in fact, find it. That said, I am quite happy with both of the brilliant moves chess.com awarded me in this game.

<iframe id="11532391" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" style="width:100%;border:none;" src="//www.chess.com/emboard?id=11532391"></iframe><script>addEventListener("message",e=>{e['data']&&"11532391"===e['data']['id']&&getElementById(`${e['data']['id']}`)&&(getElementById(`${e['data']['id']}`).style.height=`${e['data']['frameHeight']+30}px`)});</script>

At move 13, a sacrifice on g5 is, I think, fairly obvious. Less obvious, perhaps, are the right choice of which piece to sacrifice and which to recapture with. I rejected bishop followed by queen because I couldn't see a good continuation, because his knight wouldn't be pinned, and consequently I'm likely to have difficulty in both preventing a queen exchange and continuing my attack after one. Bishop followed by knight was tempting given the threatened royal fork, but my opponent would surely notice this and I couldn't see a good followup after 14 Kg8. Also there was nothing forcing him to accept the bishop sacrifice on move 13. The knight sacrifice was more forcing, in that if he didn't accept, he would have to do something about the threatened royal fork, and I did have two forcing moves after the bishop recapture.

Having opted for the knight sacrifice, I then considered playing a preparatory 13 O-O-O in order to bring the other rook to the party. I thought he might be tempted to respond 13 ... g4, which was no threat because I'd play Ng5 anyway. However there was nothing forcing him to do this, and 13 ... Bg4 looked annoying.

The computer's verdict was that the bishop sacrifice would have been a mistake. Castling queen's side would have been OK but not as good as the knight sacrifice. It also thought that the two forcing moves after the bishop recapture were great. I did not anticipate my opponent's 16th move, but I'm really glad he played it.

Was my queen sacrifice obvious to a human? Well, clearly not to my opponent, because he allowed it, but I found it almost immediately. Still very happy with it.

I don't know why my game didn't embed properly. If someone could help me out with this, I'd appreciate it.

#124 Are you on the app? It doesn't work on the app. It only works on the website or on PC (I'm not sure about the PC, I don't use Chess.com on the PC).
