unfair positional outcomes

have you ever seen a game in which a player seems to have made most good moves and then one of a sudden the position resulting from his seemingly good play is completely unfair giving the other player a miracle draw or even an unexpected win, for ex:

you are welcome to post other examples related to the topic

This is one of those positions you try to force when you are down material in the endgame. Build a fortress then hope for the best.

How can a position be unfair?  The "seemingly good play" led to that position.

There are rules and as long as a player plays by the rules, all is fair.  It is frustrating though when You think you have a win and the opponent squeaks by with a draw.  What can you learn from this?  You too have the opportunity to find a draw when it looks like a loss.

The key there is "seemingly" good play. Look through the game and see if you can find what led to this position, and how it could possibly have been avoided. Learn to spot these things in your games. That's how you can become a better player.
