What could I have done to win?

Sort:

Im pretty new to chess strategy, so I even get whomped by the chess computer on this site on easy. I was in a game that I thought I was doing fairly well in and came to a point where I didnt know what to do anymore. Eventually I lost, but Im sure there's alot I could have done different in the end. Here's the position of the pieces, Im curious to see what more advanced players would have done.

How do I make it so you can move the pieces?

Yes, I also prefer white's position here. I think the most promising plan is to double up the rooks on the h-file. Probably with Bd2, Rh3, Rah1

to get it moving u clik at the thing that says: 'Game or sequence of moves'

Hmm, how about 1.Nxf7! Qxf7 2.Rh8+ Kg7 (2...Kxh8 3.Qxf7) 3.Bh6+ Kxh8 4.Qxf7 winning.

Looks good to me...

I came up with that too. but I ran the position in Chestmaster

Hmmm... I saw something else, something different

R h8 then Kxh8. Followed by Nxf7... if replyed with the king moving you win a rook, if the queen captures the night you just take it

So you sac a rook to trade a knight for a rook? You lost a knight in the bargain...

You still have an undeveloped bishop that you want to get into the game. Since your knight on g5 is blocking it, move that knight.

Also, noticed that Nxf7 is a free pawn because your Queen on a2 defends it.

The computer thinks Nxf7 then Bh6 is best.
