Why Did The Opponent Resign?

Sort:

I am just curious as I don't know why my opponent actually resigned from the game below:

Any suggestions to why he resigned?

I would have to assume that they simply didn't want to play anymore. There is nothing hugely signficant (that I can see) in the position. Maybe someone of a  very high level would like the pawn on e5 (maybe?!?!??) but at a mid to low level it is not massively significant. I'd prefer the white position to black's but not by a huge amount and there is no immediate mating opportunity or devastating attack that springs to mind. So unless someone much brighter can point out the obvious I would suggest you just put it down to experience.

I popped the position into Rybka and it believes Black has a slight advantage. Your opponent also resigned against others for no apparent reason... strange.

A loss bot perhaps?

A tip: In positions like this, don't occupy d5 with your knight until you're confident your opponent can't easily trade him off.

I actually looked at Bandithiro's previous games and he resigned a similar sort of game.
