My strongest victory so far...

Hey guys, tell me what you think of this game... it's my first time ever defeating a player ranked 1744, so I was pretty excited :)

I like the discovered attack on Queen, into a knight fork on 2 Rooks.  Congrats on your victory. Smile

 Thank you :)

Someone_British you shouldn't rejoice at such a win... it only shows you are here to catch fun and not to improve on your games.

Will you ever cross the 1800+ ranking? I met someone (a good chess player here in chess.com) who taught mea winning formular. Now i have implemented it and my success rate has improved tremendously.

Do you want to know what this secret winning formula is??

He shouldn't rejoice? It was a well played game by him, and he fully deserved the win. Surely there is no better time to rejoice?

"...it only shows you are here to catch fun and not to improve on your games." Ok first explain how it shows this please. Why shouldn't fun be had while improving your play in a game? Many people only play to have fun, rather than to get better. If the enjoyment ended, I know I would stop; but this does not mean I am improving.

I assume this "winning formula" you speak of is the collection of tactics in your blog: these are mostly beggining and attacking principles. They are well explained by you, but I believe someone_british already knows, and abides them well.

I am confident that someone_british will get to 1800 and I am not quite sure why you chose to attack his celebration so.

I hope I have not misunderstood your comment, and I offer my humblest apologies if I have. It is so hard to get the tone of a comment in text format.

How does it show that exactly? The fact of the matter is that I'm here to improve my game AND have fun in the process as well. I found that if I play for the enjoyment of the game, that I'm actually a lot more creative and sharp than when I'm just focused on the end result of winning or losing. On occasion when I have aparticularly good game, I like to rejoice in it, it's a good feeling. Did you mean that you shouldn't rejoice at games at all, or that you think this particular game wasn't good and I shouldn't rejoice in it specifically? In both cases I have to disagree, because even if it's not a brilliant game if compared to a really high level of chess, at the time it represented a leap in improvement for me, and so I was proud of it. Are you really of the opinion that you should only rejoice once you reach 1800+, and you can't have any satisfaction in anything you do before that? If so, I pitty you. You must really get no fun at all playing chess then.

Will I ever cross 1800+ ? I'm quite confident that I will... since I started playing here on the site I've been steadily improving all the time, and I'm always learning from each game (whether I win or lose), and thinking of new strategies and creative approaches to implement. I have no reason to think that my improvement will suddenly just stop. It's all about having the right attitude.
