I read what the thread was about. I was mistaken about my checkmate being a smothermate. It was delivered by the knight but one side was not blocked by the opponents piece. There was no need for the OP's comment, nor the obnoxious tone of his comment, or for him to send me a personal message about it, so I rightly told him to get a life. Which you should do as well.  

There are better ways to spend your time than arguing with random strangers on the internet. For example you could have posted an example of a smothermate, the topic of this thread. Which is what I had originally tried to do and find much more interesting than having to reply to people like you and OP.

So this forum is for smothered mates?

yes. if you read the first post the OP is talking about smothermates. He got his panties in a bunch because I posted what i thought was a smothermate but one of the sides wasn't actually "smothered".

Hey, now you play innocent, not knowing what "smothered" is, according to your private message it seams that you have tried it, the one where you brought your privates into the conversation? Would you be a real MAN and write back what you wrote to me as you went down on your knees and hands and proposed in a fruity manner? Usually I do not disclose contents of private messages. However here you have disclosed partial info on our mutual "private messages" so... I will disclose what I messaged to you. At that time I had no biffs with you and everything was fine and dandy. I did not want to boss you around, I was simply trying to convey a message to you. At the end of the day you are now better off informed of the nature of "smothered mate". You could be happy with that. However you are very oversensitive, thinking people who are trying to help you as to broaden your horizon are actually your enemies. You feel ashamed of your shortcomings however it is easier to lash out at others, rather than thinking: "Hey, I have just learned something new." Imagine using the "Philidor's mate" pattern in your games. People pay to learn these kind of things.

@1983B-Boy thank you for your posts and diligence of making all the hard work to post you replies. However of all the games showcased by you, there are only 2 of those games fitting the criteria of "smothered mate" mating pattern. (Both being Philidor's Mates)

And... "There is no such thing as a "diagonal Smothered mate". AND... "Only a KNIGHT can deliver "Smothered checkmates". We had a similar discussion with a nasty little i.. I mean gentleman in this thread about "smothered mates" so please read the beforehand posts and so on.
