Three years ago, I made a move which I innocently did not realise was checkmate - I had planned the move as a regular fork of the king and a bishop where I would proceed to capture the bishop and then lose on time (I had 3 seconds left versus my opponent's 16 seconds in this 1|0 bullet game).

Yes, I recall you had posted that game in another thread. What is funny is that if your opponent played any move other than 53. Rf1?? they likely would have won on time. Instead, they suffered an instant loss when he need not rush with ample time on their clock. Thanks for sharing!

Here is one that happened to me today when I was playing in the UTT (I was in serious time pressure cuz only 3.3 seconds in my clock so I didn't notice it)

I tried to place a rook on 7th but slipped

It is quite a blessing that you mouse slipped because Raa7 would have been a stalemate!

That checkmating pattern is quite a common tactical theme. It is pretty cool that you got to apply it in one of your games!

What an incredible checkmate! A lone knight does the honors in the middle of the board. Your opponent must have fallen out of their chair when the server ended the game!

Yep but his fault, it was 30 min chess.

vishnu_vijay_93

this was a 30 sec game, ignore the trashy middlegame and just skip to the part where I swindle my opponent( we both had like 5 seconds, no increment

vishnu_vijay_93

Kg4 is such a brilliant move considering this was a hyperbullet game and I was already lost

Indeed! But did you see Bg5# to follow when you played 41. Kg4?

I saw this plan when he tricked me with 36. ... a3 when I had premoved Bf5 and he got an opportunity to queen with a2

There's nothing peculiar about that... Maybe it is different on my screen but @2Ke21-0 obviously played Ke2!
