aborting game in mid game is a loophole that chess.com will not fix or even acknowledge

maybe there was server issues if it happened to both of us around the same time

Probably. It's since been listed in my profile as a win for me so I reached out to my opponent and offered a rematch

Martin_Stahl

Yeah, there was some maintenance and server reboots. The site should automatically refund points lost due to that.

Ilampozhil25

yeah

coz it doesnt exist

it only happens in server restarts

you really believe that people use it deliberately? with control?

and that it ONLY happens when they are lost?

have half a brain please, THEN make accusations

The same thing just happened to me while I was winning against someone rated much higher. It instant abort when I made a winning move.

"You have been disconnected. Please, wait until server is restarted."
Playing a game when there's a scheduled server restart (appears in red text under the start button) is playing with fire. Your opponent didn't abort, when a server stops, you cannot connect to said server. Therefore, their system aborts all games so that when the servers start again, there isn't any corrupt or bugged games

did anyone manage to get their game back because the exact same thing just happened to me and i was winning completely. it was a unique game and would be a shame if i didn't have it in my archive!

There was a scheduled live server restart. When that happens all ongoing games are aborted.

RLRocket

how could you abort a game if the abort button becomes the resign button after every player did their first move?

If you abort too often as a percentage of completed games you lose the ability to abort.

i wonder why people only complain about server restarts when they were winning but then it aborted.... not the other way....

tacticalchessy

This happened to me twice and the worst thing is that it somehow happens only when I am winning. Sometimes when I am losing I wish that the game was aborted but it never happened.😭

RapixOnChess

Just happened to me. I was 1 or 2 move from checkmate. Dominating the match. Game was aborted and disappeared from the history. I cannot review the match or lookup for the opponent anymore. This is BS.

Do you remember the opponent name?

CandanC

It's around 10:00 pm in California now and there was no alert for server resart. My game aborted. I was really focused and doing good against a higer rated player. Unfortunately, it's not a rare thing and so frustrating.

Dhakshan_Tesla

Almost the end of 2024 and this just happened to me now. The position was equal though and i couldn't think of many ways to convert it to a win. So this particular game doesn't bother me. But it indeed does happen. It happened around 11:30 IST

A server restart just happened
