Chess.com should be 100% free

I agree with free chess. With alll the advertisements and the number of members, chess.com should have earning a very hefty income. Furthermore, the support has gone from good to really bad. There is no way to contact chess.com unless you use the chat box, which doesn't allow you to connect to a person or leave a detailed message. The support page doesn't work with Firefox and I couldn't get it to work with chrome either. (and I'm a computer professional, thank you) Then, if you file a report after playing live chess, there is never a reply and none of the bugs are fixed. So, it seems chess.com has actually gone downhill. If I were considering a paid membership before, I will certainly not consider it now. Why pay money for ZERO SUPPORT? It's not worth paying money to get access to the review feature for every game and I don't see how any of the other perks are much different than free chess. While I like chess.,com and consider it the best chess website on the Internet, I have other financial obligations that are really more important, such as supportingt the Ukraine Armed Forces and taking care of myfamily. One feature chess.com needs is the ability to limit the number of opponents from the same country each day. The website is overwhelmed with players from India and Ì would like a better mix of nationalities when I play chess. The rude comments from male players from India, asking my age, my weight, am I married has forced me to turn off chat. Then, I have to turn it back on if a player from another country is my next opponent. Maybe guys don't have this problem, but for women, the number of Indian players per day really needs to be limited. And there should be an option when you file a report after a live game where the chat is automatically included so support can see what's going on. I think chess.com doesn't care about its members anymore because the silence from support is truly deafening.

i dont really know about the advertisements but almost all ads i see are from chess.com themselves promoting their quizzes and youtube videos. youre probably seeing silence from support because the sheer amount of users also requesting support

Chess.com is a free chess site. You only get charged if you want to purchase a premium membership. I think this is more than generous. The fairest option in my view would be to eliminate all basic memberships and allow only premium members on Chess.com.

I was just kidding about eliminating basic memberships, but I don't understand how getting rid of free memberships would bankrupt this site.

The site is smaller (less hardware, resources, traffic, etc), has fewer staff. They were financed initially, as I understand it, and take donations to pay expenses. It's a different business model and they scale differently.

The number of a available players would drop significantly and if there aren't enough players then the site would likely also see a decrease in premium as well.

I love how this guy thinks he knows how finances and money work. He should try being the CEO of chess. Com for a day

Whilst I've decided against using Chess.com as my main platform, it has enough interesting features that I don't want to see it destroyed in a day tyvm.

So website development should be free? Maintenance should be free? Lessons should be free? Why would anyone put their time and effort in with no reward?

What about lichess?
