It's hard to disagree about that. Although chess24 has money behind them yet it is nowhere as good as lichess. Playing on that site is so dark and if you want to go back a few moves, it wants you to click on their arrows instead of using your arrow keys.

Lichess is getting better though. Although I would like instead of that circle they have when you right click on a square to have the whole square highlighted. It's easier to see and looks nicer.

I like lichess more. Good interface, and it is also open source. About chess.com, well, it is what it is.

It seems like most forums saying lichess is better are removed.
I wonder what that says about chess.com...

I think both have their pros and cons

Chess.com forums are a lot more active and useful for actually getting information imo

Chess.com UI is soooo much better than the Lichess UI

But the Live Chess is more appealing on Lichess for me

Lichess Classical rating is cool as 10|0 and 30|0 are extremely different time controls and shouldn't really have the same rating, and Lichess also allows takebacks with approval from your opponent, so the ratings would probably be more accurate as there would be less wins from just a misclick or blunder.

And finally, I find the analysis on Chess.com a lot easier to read than on Lichess

Just my opinion

Fair points but I don't know what you mean by UI. What is that

User Interface. So like the layout and appearance of the site

I agree with you

Chess.com has ugly American chicks commenting like the botox sisters. But lichess has hot European chicks like MVL, Navara, and Carlsen!!

I find the Botez sisters annoying to watch. I don't want to watch anyone play the London System and have my eardrums destroyed by an annoying girl.

If you are going to play d4, play something cool like a Queen's Gambit. At least it has personality and actually makes you want to play chess

Buy Chessbase instead. People improve a lot more with Chessbase than with chess.com

AryaProBrother

Chess.com is personally better for me . I am a gold memeber and enjoying full experience of chess.com . Check in my profile.  I have written a blog on this topic .

Probably Chess.com

I had lichess and I liked it but it's 2021

It's more like the Brave vs Google Ad but Chess.com Is Better If you have the Diamond Membership Otherwise I think Lichess.org is better

Chess.com is by far better. It is by far better because the lessons teach alot more, better players, better computer bots, and better cheating detection. It also is just better in everyway , which everyone knows. My suggestion is, no matter your level, gm, or beginner, use chess.com. I also have the gold membership, trust me, any membership on chess.com is worth it.

Better players like Magnus Carlsen, Ian Nepomniatchi, or most super GMs? The best you got is Hikaru. However, this is irrelevant for a beginner with less than 200 rapid. Back when I only played on chess.com, I experienced more stallers/quitters on average than on Lichess. Too many are so salty that they refuse to resign.

Also, I get free analysis on Lichess which is more than enough for most beginners if they just look at the engine and get better at the game. Lichess studies are an incredible resource to study chess like the Queen's Gambit or the French Defense while also being able to see what you have played and what most players on Lichess play which is ideal for learning a new opening

The difference between chesscom and lichess:

One is positioned to one side of the other.

Peak_Performence

Actually both are equally good.

Quality of players is best on lichess and for asthetic, i would go with chess.com hands down

currently im playing on both and i prefer chess.com coz of asthetics

DragonWizard02

they both suck

I like Lichess more. Even when I had premium, I didn't really watch the videos or use the premium benefits except for analyzing games which I do solely on Lichess. Also, I can create studies of the books I'm reading which is very convenient when I come up against a Grunfeld to see what moves to play and why. Here is one of my finished studies if you want to check.

You use your studies while playing games?

PepetheMagnificent

Lichess > CC simply because lichess is strictly for playing chess. I like their app layout better than CC though when comparing the sites themselves, CC does look cleaner. And puzzles are free, a definite plus. I play daily games on here mostly. For blitz/rapid and puzzles I use Lichess and chess tempo.

Lol. If that were the case, I would definitely be 2000 by now (chess.com rating)
