You need a shrink 😃😃😃
;-)
I agree. I think a mobile chess booze or drug bus with chess police taking blood and urine samples should be set up. Anyone caught playing chess on their computer logged into chess. com with a positive reading could lose ranking points or have their account closed
It is a very interesting post I must say. I thought about the doping matter related to chess. If you see the old-school tournaments of 1950-80 almost all grandmasters smoked during the game. Nicotine has the effect of enhancing concentration. Coffee... uhm... I wouldn't say so. It is easy to overdo. I personally have shakes when consumed too much of coffee and get a bit irritated about absolutely everything. I heard that people use some herbal enhancements like ginseng etc. for increasing the concentration. Personally I think that it does have some positive effect, but it will not replace chess skills anyway. In a nutshell - you still need to play well to win.
In addition to caffeine, alcohol must be strictly regulated. You wouldn't believe some of the crazy moves people come up with when they have the unfair help of too much talent juice. I propose requiring all live rated games to be preceded by a USB or Bluetooth Blood Alcohol Level verification. BAC readings between 0.05 and 0.20 will constitute a breach of the Fair Play agreement. (below 0.05 has been shown to have negligible impact and above 0.20 usually means that just making a legal move is a challenge and therefore is not a competitive advantage).
@Lucidish_Lux
That's cool, but what would you do? Force everybody to pass a piss test every round?
Opium, crack, cannabis... whatever gets the W bro.
But seriously... for otb tournament, why not? Chess is super competitive... if something gives a few percent extra... people will use? Coffee might be too strong, but fancy stuff like Cappuccino or Mocha give a smoother lift... as does classic tea. How about nicotine gum? Look how much effort player put into openings... but how much on State of Mind? If one player is unshaven, sweating and twitchy... and opponent is designer suit, super calm... who gonna win? Look at Carlsen... he must be on Something?
What does the fairplay FIDE policy say about alcohol and cannabis?! I am not saying that I am high ATM.. LOL. Good topic though!!
It has come to my attention that chess.com does not have an anti-doping policy. With all the talk about "fair play," I find it a sick joke that I might be playing across the interwebs from someone who has way more than 12 micrograms of caffeine (or even ephedrine!) per liter in their urine! (See FIDE regulations on caffeine restriction here https://www.fide.com/FIDE/handbook/WADA%20Anti%20Doping.pdf and here https://www.fide.com/fide/fide-anti-doping-regulations.html ). If we can't control caffeine abuse, what chance do we have of playing someone who isn't jacked on piracetam!? Aniracetam!? Blood infused with all the tams, simultaneously?!
I want convictions, I want urine testing, and I want fair play!
Both my urine and stool samples have been mailed via overnight express to your address.
still a bit confused as to how coffee could give me an advantage,if i have had to much coffee it seems to make me play more impulsive, not taking the time necessary to find the correct move.
Thx for the grins David :-)))
